A native of Northfield, Jill graduated from St. Olaf College in 1993 with a degree in studio art. She has been working steadily in the studio ever since. Her work consists of painting, collage, sewing and other mixed media on paper and canvas. Compositions are abstract, often of geometric shapes in variations of order and disorder.
"I am inspired by things old and new and my work reflects that. I choose modern compositions, but mix them with antique papers. I like the way old, found materials can soften a geometric design. Abstract work has always been my focus. I prefer to emphasize shapes, colors and individual marks than a defined subject. I strive for compositions that one's eye can work it's way through, taking in and appreciating small details."
